YFMP has a unique neighborhood based approach to its Youth Development Model. With over 17 years of urban youth development experience, YFMP has established a neighborhood based model that allows for high levels of youth engagement, while building in the importance of “place” as a key component of effective youth development and food distribution work. Please see the drop down menu for a detailed look at each individual neighborhood, where they are, what they are currently working on, and how to participate in their programming.
Because all of YFMP programs are neighborhood based, this means youth that live or go to school in these neighborhoods receive priority registration into all programs. YFMP’s board and staff are committed to continuing to be a free resource for youth and families in these urban neighborhoods. If you live or go to school in Lyndale, Powderhorn, Hawthorne, Frogtown or the West Side neighborhoods, please contact the Program Director of that neighborhood to get a registration form. Program Director contact information can be accessed here.
If you do not live in one of our focus neighborhoods, you can contact the Program Director of the neighborhood program that is closest to you to be put on a wait list for after school and summer programming. If after our registration deadline passes, there are still spaces available for youth that do not live or go to school in Lyndale, Powderhorn, Hawthorne, Frogtown and West Side, youth will be admitted from the waiting list on a first come basis.
